The company closed its first round of financing in 2007 with New Energies Invest (NEI).  NEI has made many notable investments in renewable energy including Powerlight/SunPower and Xantrex. NEI was founded by the Sarasin Bank in Basel, Switzerland in 2000 as one of the pioneering funds in renewable energy.

In June 2009, Pyron Solar was acquired by Ellis Energy Investments.
