Press Release
What’s New Under the Sun…
San Diego, California, September 11, 2006
Privately-held Pyron Solar, Inc. today announced the naming of Douglas
K.
Carriger, Jr., as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Carriger
will also
take a position on the San Diego-based solar photovoltaic developer’s
board of
directors.
Carriger comes to Pyron Solar from The Boeing Company, where he
has served as solar energy technology program manager and led efforts
in the
incubator program of Boeing Technology Ventures. With Boeing, he
was
responsible for program planning and strategy related to Boeing’s
terrestrial
solar energy technology activity, for development of an international
customer base for utility scale photovoltaic projects, and for related
research
and development investment; in such capacities having profit and
loss
responsibility over several related product lines.
“Doug brings to Pyron Solar broad industry knowledge and insight
into value
chain coverage and strategic placement of Pyron Solar’s solar electricity
generator in the marketplace. His experience in communicating the
value of
technology and services designed to meet customer needs will be
instrumental to Pyron Solar’s commercial roll-out and marketing of
the
photovoltaic electricity generator of the future,” said John Laing,
founder and
Chairman of Pyron Solar.
Pyron Solar, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing concern whose
founders have developed a revolutionary design electricity generator
employing a low-profile floating system with short-focal-length lenses
concentrating direct sunlight by 8000 times at a focal point on the
surface of
a proprietary secondary optic, which then spreads the light uniformly
over
the photovoltaic cell; resulting in a high-efficiency conversion
of sunlight into
electricity; the generator being intended for scalable utility-owned,
merchant,
and industrial applications.
